My walk in the woods today was nothing but eye candy. The township had taken out some damaged trees, and the exposed stumps were incredible. I would have paid a pretty penny for a few decent slices of the most colorful box elder. It doesn't seem natural that wood can turn so many different colors, but there it is, lovely proof of nature's artistic talents.
Colorful wood slices and matching shotgun shell.
Some slices I took home to play around with.

Incredibly beautiful wood! But the fungus...it is just like a moth...wow! Nature is just so easy it appreciate...we just need to open our eyes or have people like you to capture it for us to enjoy in a photo.
ReplyDeleteOh, that "wormsign" and the slices are just beautiful! And thank you for bringing me along on your walk.
ReplyDeleteThank you for opening my eyes to daily wonder.
ReplyDeleteThat wormsign is something else.
My youngest daughter and I are both enjoying these. That Is the Best fungus yet! We think the wormsign is very cool too. And thank you for the walk. I needed one : )
ReplyDeleteThat Fungi is AWESOME! And I LOVE the natural designs in the wood - Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great walk!
I so love these slabs of wood!!!! You are a creature after my own heart! I have decided that the perfect coffee table would be a large slab of wood, preferably from a Siamese tree, where you can see the rings and all the beautiful colours!!!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever seen sumac wood - the most gorgeous greeny gold, fit to drool over...
