Some I planted, some volunteered, some have been here long before me and probably will be here long after me, given just a little warmth, sunshine and rain. Sorry so long between posts, but I've been busy with life, and spending my spare time outside with my camera. April's photo file is 500 plus, and I must learn to be a better editor. But deleting some of their pictures feels like unfriending a friend, so it is a slow and difficult process. I used to delete all the out of focus ones, but lately, their Monet quality appeals to me, especially as my own eyesight continues to worsen, and most of my world is out of focus in one way or another anyway.
Maybe I'll post some Monets soon, but for now, these are as crisp and fresh as an April morning.
Hope it's mostly sunshine and lovely wherever you are, and hope you take some time
to make friends with the flowers too.

Lovely. Can you tell what the 7th down is? I love the dual color. I needed a flower fix. I was very excited that my ancient hydrangea was starting to bud and then I threw a ball for my dog and he fetched the stick with the buds instead!
ReplyDeleteGasp! Beautiful and wonderfully captured! Hugs, Mel. Glad to see you whenever.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mom and DJan. The 7th down I thought was a Darwin Tulip, but I googled to check and the little ones are called botanical tulips, ie what they looked like before humans messed with them. They are petite and very cute. I think I got the bulbs from a catalog or maybe it was Lowes. I buy bulbs at Lowes in the wrong season when they're 75% off clearance every now and then and plant things that surprise me when they come up, like this one. It's a miracle it survives in the current location of favorite dog pee spot!
ReplyDeleteSpring has sprung where you are! I can't decide which is my favorite of your photos.
ReplyDeleteWe have a bunch of red and purple over here. Hubs bought more flora and fauna today. he doesn't golf or drink much--I guess he is allowed to spend $$ on flowers....
Oh, thank you for the Spring Flower Garden Tour! your blooms are lovely. I've been out shooting flowers all spring too. Just can't seem to get enough.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful photos of flowers. Might the fiddle heads be on your dinner menu this evening? The rabbits are having a munch fest here...they've even gotten the tips of my hosta, which will look deformed once they mature.
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring! And a belated Happy May Day...and Happy Mother's Day!
I feel like stopping here today was a May day/mom's day flower gift...thank you so much!
Beautiful portraits of your friends. I thought I liked the yellow bud (daffodil?) the best till I saw the drooping gray white bud waving an elegant petal at me. I'm smitten.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the lovely comments. I have to admit that I've never eaten a fiddlehead, though I'm sure I'd love them. I love found food - wild asparagus, berries, ramps - but these ferns are volunteers from my neighbors yard and I think of them as friends, don't think I could eat them!
ReplyDeleteThe yellow bud is a narcissus, which I call the mutant daffodil, as the blossom is too heavy for the stem, so they just lay on the ground. Those I am able to cut sometimes to bring inside so I can see them better. I'll post a picture of the open blossom, it was something.
